WNBA.com rung in 2011 by interviewing Paul Nilsen of FIBAEurope.com, who keeps a close eye on Euroleague action. In the interview, Nilsen singled out Tijana Krivacevic as one of “the young players and potential WNBA players of the future” who has stood out to him.
You may remember that the Storm selected Krivacevic in the third round of last year’s WNBA Draft with the 34th overall pick. She visited Seattle over the summer and wants to play in the U.S. in the future. The Storm will maintain her rights until she joins the team.
The 20-year-old post player is averaging 12.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game this season for MKB Euroleasing Sopron while shooting 51.3 percent from the field. Sopron is third in Euroleague’s Group B behind powers Fenerbahce and UMMC Ekaterinburg.
Like Storm forwards Svetlana Abrosimova and Jana Vesela, Krivacevic’s availability this summer could be affected by national-team commitments. She represents Hungary, which is one of eight teams that will compete in June for the final spot in EuroBasket 2011.
