The NCAA Women’s Tournament tips off this weekend, as Maya Moore and Connecticut look to cut down the nets for the second consecutive season and 63 other teams look to snap UConn’s record 72-game winning streak. Yesterday saw the unveiling of brackets, with the Huskies naturally claiming the No. 1 overall seed and joined on the 1-seed line by Nebraska, Stanford and Tennessee.

This weekend, the University of Washington will host one of 16 subregionals. No. 2 Texas A&M faces No. 15 Portland State (which advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever under former WSU Head Coach Sherri Murrell) and No. 7 Gonzaga, playing in Seattle for the second straight year, will take on No. 10 North Carolina on Saturday. The winner of those two games will face off Monday night for a trip to the Sweet Sixteen. All-Session Passes are available for those games online.

One interested observer from overseas on Saturday will be Storm forward Camille Little, a UNC alum. Other Storm alma maters in the tournament include (of course) UConn (Sue Bird, Swin Cash), Tennessee (Ashley Robinson), Rutgers (Chelsea Newton) and Tulane (Janell Burse), which is making its first appearance since 2003.

Since this is the time of year for filling out brackets, I’ve started a Seattle Storm group on ESPN.com’s Tournament Challenge for fans to submit your entry and challenge me and other employees. I can’t share with you my entire bracket, but yes, I have Connecticut winning it all.
