The WNBA announced today that Storm center Lauren Jackson will not play in Saturday’s midseason classic, WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Stars at the Sun. Jackson and Atlanta forward Sancho Lyttle, who is also recovering from a concussion suffered the same day, were replaced on the WNBA roster by Washington Mystics teammates Lindsey Harding and Monique Currie.
Jackson traveled to Connecticut today and will participate in Stars at the Sun festivities.
The Australian National Team is also in Connecticut this week to practice and play an exhibition against the U.S. National Team on Sunday. Storm center Abby Bishop will train with and play for the Opals.

I’m sorry Lauren won’t be able to play, but also very glad she will not risk further injury. Get better, soon LJ!
I bet she plays on the Australian national team sunday.
Let it go. She is playing for us and returns each year. Nothing wrong with being proud of your country.
LUV THE STORM & LUREN JACKSON..ALL THE STORM.. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. BTW WHY THE HELL DIDN’T THOSE STUPID REFS CALL A DAMN PENALTY ON THE PLAYER WHO HIT HER IN THE HEAD??/ THOSE OFFICIALS ARE TOTALLY USELESS ALL OF THE.. 1 -P2 GOOD CALLS ALL FFF YEAR..FIRE ‘EM ALL. GO STORM LUV LJ…:-)
I am glad that she didn’t play today so she can recover little more at get healthy for Opal mates. But I wish would have at least coached the team instead of the Storm coach. He was an embaressment to Western Conference and true WNBA fans. He has problem with Aussie players it seems, Penny Taylor help get it down to 20 pts and he takes her out. I trully believe he was trying to help Team USA to 100 pts. Team USA should know if LJ and PT were playing trust me not blow out. They can play defence and shoot. Opal won 2006 World Championships and they will in 2010. Stay healthy LJ and PT for your Opals.
Sunday prediction Opals win 4 points with or without LJ. Although still hoping LJ is there as long as its not risky health wise. I am pencilling in Abby Bishop for 14 points and Penny Taylor 24 pts.
I am thankful that we are watching Lauren’s health and taking care of her. We need her down the home stretch – Get better and stay well, LJ> Pat
Penny Taylor’s minutes were limited at the request of Phoenix Coach Corey Gaines.
