If you were watching ABC’s broadcast of the Storm’s remarkable, against-all-odds comeback today in Phoenix, you missed out on Storm play-by-play broadcaster Dick Fain going nuts as the Storm won the game, with plenty of help from broadcast partner Adia Barnes. Take a listen to the 1150 AM KKNW call of four of the game’s biggest plays.
- Lauren Jackson’s and-one cuts the Mercury’s lead to two points
- Swin Cash ties the game with a layup in the final minute
- Sue Bird’s game-winning three puts the Storm ahead
- The Storm wins it when Diana Taurasi misses a potential tying three at the buzzer

I love how much Dick LOVES his job. I would rather listen to Dick and Adia ANY day rather than the biased idiots working for ESPN.
I have been waiting for this. Not just for this game, but I would have liked other games or parts of other games to have been put up over the years. Dick and Adia are one of the best and most entertaining pairs of broadcasters in any sport. Is there any chance at all that full games could somehow be uploaded, especially during the finals? Since all the games will be on ABC, we will miss these two. For road games I usually turn down the volume on the tv/computer and listen on the radio, but I always am wondering what Dick and Adia are discussing when I am at home games. Please try to find out if it could be possible with the league/KKNW to somehow save the broadcasts and put them up on the website. I would really appreciate it!
I have to say this was the best game Ive attended ever! I think it was fitting that it was Diana Taurasi that missed the tie 3 pt shot.. I was shocked to see how shes become “full of herself”. I couldn’t believe that she got away with pushing the referee.. It was clear that the refs favored Phoenix but in the end they couldn’t handle “The Storm”
There signs said “The STORM is OVER” ITS NOT OVER! GO STORM
Best way to watch: TV for visual and Dick & Adia for audio! Great game, great commentary throughout.
I love it when Dick goes nuts!
Being downunder, there was no live telecast so I had to follow the game on play by play text. Later, hearing Dick call those four plays brought me closer to the excitement that all of you Storm fans are experiencing.
Being an Australian , I am not only so proud of your adopted Aussies, but from Adia and Dick, to Doppler, to the team, to Karen Bryant, and everything Seattle Storm. I LUV YAS
My vote for WNBA COMMENT OF THE YEAR – August 7 Shock @ Storm – re Abbey Bishop – Adia – ” we were waitin’ for the crocodile tackle!”
GO STORM YOU CAN DO IT
Haha this is so great. Dick Fain is hilarious when he yells about a play. Him and Adia are a great combo and great to listen to!
Gosh, I wish that Dick Fain would act at least a bit more excited :-). Seriously, my husband and I always hustle back to our car after games at the Key to hopefully hear part of Dick & Adia’s commentary after games. They are both super nice people in person–we met him at a season ticket holder function, and it turns out that his brother & I went to school together, and I’ve seen Adia at Storm meet & greets.
I 2nd that request for uploads of the entire game broadcast. I missed the ABC broadcast and have been trying for hours to find some way to watch/listen to Gm 2 vs Phoenix in it’s entirety. Anyone know of any source for the entire game audio or video please??
OH man, this was the thrillingest game ever! I love the excitement Dick Fain and Adia Barnes bring to their broadcasts. And yes to GOW’s suggestion: If there’s a way to make archived radio broadcasts available, that would be fantastic. I’m also super grateful for Kevin’s Live Chats and for WNBA Live Access (although sure wish they’d put the Coming Soon playoff games up already!)
Listening to these snippets brought it all back to me, with chills and a few tears. What excitement!
We were coming back from camping this weekend, and had finally got to a place where we could hear 1150am. It was a super fuzzy signal, but I made my boyfriend pull over. I’m sure we both looked like idiots bouncing up and down in the car screaming “OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!!.” If you were driving through Fall City yesterday afternoon and saw us, I make no excuses, it was one of the greatest finishes ever. Dick’s call at the end of the game had me in tears! GO STORM!!!!
I agree that the ESPN broadcasters are biast. We get to hear Dick and Adia all year and then in the most exciting time and when you want “your guys”, we get broadcasters that show about 1% of that excitment towards not only the game but The Storm. Dick IS one of the nicest men you will ever meet and has a passion for this team that is very hard to match. I have goosbumps already just thinking about the final series, and am giddy with excitment that I already have my tickets to come be a part of history (again).
I cashed in some mileage points and flew down on a 5 am flight Sunday and met a friend from Portland for the game. We took a cab to a local sports bar 2 blocks from the arena for a pre-game Storm rally and lunch. The Storm owners, Karen Bryant, Bryan Agler’s wife and Doppler were all there. More than 100 avid Storm fans attended the game with signs and Storm garb – We had great seats behind the Storm bench.
It was a very hard fought game and I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to come back from being down 19, but when we started the come back you could just feel it! The Phoenix crowd got quiet and we got crazy loud and were standing and screaming for the end of the third and almost the entire 4th quarter – I don’t think I have ever yelled that loud!! And what an amazing 4th quarter by Swin Cash and the whole team! After Swin tied the game and then Sue Bird blocked the shot with 24 seconds left and smartly called a time out, you just knew and believed that we would do it again and sure enough — a 3-point dagger from Birdy with 2.8 seconds left! Big time players make the big time shots. And then the Storm simply swarmed Taurasi who had to alter her shot and missed as time ran out! WOW!! – The “never-say-die” kids did it again. UNBELIEVABLE! One of the all-time best come-back wins I have ever seen – in any sport!
I ended up on the same flight back as the Storm team. Adia Barnes and Dick Fain and a lot of other Storm fans were on the flight too, so when the team members boarded the plane, each one was loudly cheered and applauded — it was a real party flight! When we arrived at Sea-Tac, we were met outside security by a cheering crowd of more than 100 Storm fans and also Doppler (who had flown back an earlier flight) — it was just amazing!! I still can’t hear or talk today and I’m totally exhausted and very happy! Now it’s on to the Championship!!! GO STORM!!
Love it when Dick and Adia call games. I like watching the games on ESPN because of the quality but I’d rather have them just on LiveAccess just to hear Dick going nuts with Adia complementing him. I also 3rd that request for uploads of Game 1 and Game 2 of this Western Conference Finals. The Storm are the Western Conference champs, the best fans of the league should be able to see the games even at least once. Still amazed by that comeback. What a shot, what a game, what a team! Watch out championship trophy, the Storm’s going to get you! GO STORM! BRIIIING IT!
i love listening to dick and adia! they are thee best commentators!!
I listen to Dick and Adia in the Key at the games. Earphone in one ear, crowd noise for the other….perfection.
Just gotta chip in here and agree – Dick and Adia are the BEST at calling games. We are so lucky to have them here in Seattle – I wish there was a way that they could call every WNBA game. They know more than all the other commentators and color analysts combined, imho……not to mention how fun they are to listen to. They may not be on the court – though I think Adia is, as a practice player sometimes, and in the train at Key ;-) , but they feel every bit a part of the team; this magical 2010 team…..
See what I started? Storm fans love them some Dick and Adia. This is the most comments I have seen since at least when PeeWee retired. This seems like a time where the saying “leave them wanting more” is inappropriate. “Give ‘em what they want” seems to fit more nicely. We want to hear Dick and Adia over and over and over again!
