I saw a cool post from Janis Kacens on the Love Women’s Basketball blog yesterday. Kacens did the research to collect the Euroleague’s leaders in scoring, rebounds and assists dating back to 1997, which is when FIBAEurope.com first has stats. (The Euroleague as we currently know it started in 1991-92; previously European teams competed to win the European Cup for Women’s Champions.)
Naturally, the list includes some familiar names.
Kamila Vodichkova is 17th in scoring with 1,663 points. She’s just ahead of another former Storm player, Sandy Brondello, with 1,582.
Vodichkova is eighth in rebounds (966) and fellow Czech native Jana Vesela sneaks in at 25th with 605.
The only current Storm player on the leaderboards is Sue Bird, who ranks 20th with 314 career assists. In terms of Euroleague totals, Bird can’t compare to her former backup Edwidge Lawson, who is third in modern Euroleague history with 541 assists.
Lawson (159, 16th) and Vesela (138, 23rd) also show up in the ranking of games played. They’re joined there by yet another one-time Storm import, Francesca Zara (142, 20th).

A little correction: these stats start with 1997 because that’s when the competition was reorganized a bit renaming it to EuroLeague Women and changing the competition system to what it is now (apart for the final stages). There are some stats available from 1992-1997 (with some missing) but considering European Cup for Women’s Champions was established in September of 1958 it didn’t seem correct to have 5 years of that almost 40 year old competition.
Thanks. That’s what I get for relying on Wikipedia!
