LJ Shines in Ros Casares Blowout

Lauren Jackson had her best Euroleague performance of the season as Ros Casares Valencia blew by Uni Seat Gyor, 80-43. Jackson scored 11 points in 19 minutes, knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Jana Vesela contributed four points, five rebounds and three steals.  Ann Wauters led Ros Casares with 18 points and six rebounds.

UMMC Ekaterinburg had little more difficulty at home against Lotos Gdynia, winning 79-56 after taking a 21-point lead by halftime. Five Ekaterinburg players scored double figures, while two more added eight points apiece. Olga Arteshina had an excellent all-around game with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Sandrine Gruda had 15 points and eight boards.

Wisla Can-Pack Krakow went on the road for an important victory in Group C, defeating Good Angels Kosice 72-69. Kosice took a 69-68 lead with 2:28 to play but would be scoreless the rest of the game. Nicole Powell, who scored a game-high 25 points, gave Krakow the lead and Erin Phillips (18 points) extended it with two key free throws. Foul trouble limited Wisla’s Ewelina Kobryn to just seven minutes, during which she drew five fouls.

A young Frisco Brno team continues to take its lumps in Euroleague play. On Wednesday, Brno lost 97-62 to Sparta&K Moscow Region in Vidnoje, Russia. Ashley Robinson had six points and six rebounds in 18 minutes as she continues to work back to 100 percent. Romana Hejdova scored 19 points for Brno, but the team was unable to get nearly enough stops. Eight Sparta&K players scored at least eight points, including 25 on 12-of-13 shooting for Candice Dupree.
